If the material is thin, add filtration in between the fabric layers. Paper towel is known to be an effective filtration item and after use just dispose of it. Make sure the mask covers both nose and mouth and it is secured with tie strings.
Here are a few tips while handling a home-made face mask
- Before removing or touching your mask wash your hands with soap, and also clean your hands after disposing of the mask. Wash your hands for 20 seconds.
- Do not leave your mask here and there for others to touch it accidentally
- To clean the mask, hand wash or machine-wash it with a laundry detergent.
- After washing it dry it thoroughly
- Dispose the filtration used in the masks properly
- If you are using N95 mask, don’t try to clean and reuse it as it is meant to be disposable
